Rudiments of Ayurveda are recorded in the ancient Sanskritic literature of the Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita and Ashtanga Hridaya. These were written thousands of years ago and they describe theories of health, anatomy, surgery and treatments. Charaka Samhita focuses more on internal medicine and the Sushruta Samhita is famous because of surgical surgery knowledge including early plastic surgery.
